Participating districts and schools form a green team made up of stakeholder representatives. The committee is the core of the green schools process, both organizing and directing school greening activities. It should consist of the stakeholders of the district's and schools' environment: students, teachers, custodial staff, caretakers, parents, and administrators. One representative from the district's Green Team must be identified as a contact person for the program. There should be at least one representative from each participating school on the main green team. Schools may wish to have school-based work groups in addition to the district green team. The Green Team may want to use the communication support materials and other resources listed below and also those listed in the Best Practice 0.2.
BP 0.1 Green Team is one of the two best practices required to achieve GreenStep 1 level recognition. See GreenStep 1 Page for more information.
Teams document this best practice with best practice 0.2 GreenStep School Resolution in a single Step 1 Project Story.
It is also one of a few Best Practices that is not further divided into Best Practice Actions.
Once enough districts and schools have completed this best practice, they will be shown on an interactive map.
